Featured Alumnus Four
We will be highlighting one of the SOCES allumnus here.
Joshua Tasoff is an Associate Professor of Economics at Claremont Graduate University. He researches at the intersection of psychology and economics. He works on a variety of research topics including information aversion, personal finance, and microbial economics. Currently, he is beginning research on the “science of fun” using big data from a popular video game (League of Legends) to analyze the effect of mathematically-defined surprise and suspense on enjoyment. His other new research agenda focuses on how to shift people to more plant-based diets in order to alleviate the enormous suffering of animals in factory farms and the tremendous environmental impact associated with animal agriculture. He was a serious Advanced Dungeons and Dragons (2nd Edition) player during his high school years and proudly self-identifies as a huge nerd. He received his SB from MIT and his PhD from UC Berkeley.
