Current Technology Cart Check-out Policy

Computer Cart Check-Out Policy (revised November 2016)

STEP 1Decide if you are going to use the computer lab in room 806, or the carts in the library or in your classroom. Bungalow teachers are encouraged to use the library especially if a ramp is unavailable. If you plan to use the library please sign up in the additional library binder to reserve the space. The carts marked with (LIB) are primarily for library use (exceptions may occur). Carts will not be checked out to substitute teachers.

STEP 2Choose from the list below what cart you would like and for how many days.

(LIB) = Library

** Chrome Books: Students will need their LAUSD MyMail user account names activated prior to use.

STEP 3Sign up for the cart online at They are the teacher’s responsibility for the entire day or until returned. Do not give the cart to anyone else. Teachers can sign up for two consecutive days.

STEP 4On the day you plan to use the cart pick it up and roll the cart to your room (a student may help you but the students cannot get the cart by themselves). Carts are to be rolled on the cement pathways. If there is a problem with the network or the hardware please contact the main office. These computers are the property of LAUSD and SOCES; please do not allow students to change any settings (such as creating a password) or backgrounds on the units so that all students can use them. Teachers do not have your students save their work on the computers. Students should save work on a memory stick and use their LAUSD MyMail account and Google Docs. SOCES is not responsible for any work saved on the technology.

STEP 5Teachers or Teachers Assistants (not student TAs) must return the carts personally or accompany the students.

STEP 6 – Return the carts after use by 3:15pm. Teachers are responsible for putting computers back according to the labelling on the computer and the cart. All computers must be plugged in and keyboards need to be put back into the correct container. Please check that no computers are damaged before returning. If a teacher sees any damage please report it immediately to Mr. Crockett.


Computer carts will have limited availability during testing windows. By checking out a cart you agree to the SOCES computer cart checkout procedures.
