Kindness Week at SOCES

During the week of January 27th to the 31st, Sherman Oaks CES took part in kindness week for the first time. At the beginning of the week, we were given a handout explaining the goal of having kindness week as well as a long list of opportunities and examples for people to use as inspiration to start being kind to others. Every day of the week there were new goals set for students to accomplish, on the first day students were given the task to design a poster with a quote of kindness that was then put up on teachers’ doors. Now you can see quotes like ¨kill them with kindness¨ and more inspirational ones like ¨kindness doesn’t cost anything but means everything¨ around campus.  The tasks that followed for the rest of the week included complimenting different people throughout the day and smiling at 25 people in a day. This teaches us that even the smallest acts can make the biggest difference in a person’s day. Every student from 4th to 12th grade received a free t-shirt promoting kindness, where we all later proceeded to take a school-wide picture outside at Center Circle. The goal of this activity was to spread kindness throughout the campus, to every student, faculty member, and parent on campus. Hopefully, this was able to make a positive change and inspire everyone to be kind towards everyone. Please, remember to always be kind.
